Hoa Phat supplies “Made in Vietnam” containers to Hapag-Lloyd
On July 29, 2024, Hoa Phat signed a contract to supply 2,000 of 20DC containers to Hapag-Lloyd, the largest container shipping company in Germany and one of the top five in the world. The signing ceremony was attended by senior executives from Hapag-Lloyd, including Mrs. Andrea Schöning (Senior Director Container Steering), and Hoa Phat is represented by Mr. Nguyen Manh Tuan - Vice Chairman and CEO of Hoa Phat Steel Products JSC, also the Board of Directors of Hoa Phat Container Production JSC.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Vu Duc Sinh, Director of Hoa Phat Container Production Joint Stock Company, shared: “Hoa Phat is proud to be a strategic partner with Hapag-Lloyd . Following this shipment, we believe the two parties will continue to cooperate on a larger scale in the future.”
“This productionof 2,000 twenty-foot equivalent units of dry containers is designed with numerous advanced features, reinforced flooring frame for carrying heavier goods that especially meets the requirements of the Vietnamese market. To ensure superior quality and durability each container is checked by Hapag-Lloyd nominated inspectors and a recognized classification society. The containers have a maximum load capacity of 32,500 kg, have doors equipped with anti-theft hinges and special tracking devices for easy monitoring during transportation — one of the advantages that helps Hapag-Lloyd deliver highly secure and transparent products to customers,” added the Hoa Phat’s representative.

The containers were manufactured at the Hoa Phat container factory in Expanded Phu My II Industrial Park, Phu My Town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province. Since the new container factory has begun operations, Hapag-Lloyd has organized multiple visits and exchanges with Hoa Phat, including inspections and tests to verify the containers' compliance with standards.
Hoa Phat's containers are designed and manufactured to international standards, fully meeting technical requirements for intercontinental goods shipment. All processes, starting from raw material to production and ending in product acceptance, are strictly controlled by an advanced and highly automated quality management system. In the future, Hoa Phat aims to localize 100% of the main materials and spare parts for container production.
As a significant export partner, Hoa Phat seeks maximum policy and administrative support from government agencies to facilitate smooth container exports. The cooperation between Hoa Phat and Hapag-Lloyd will boost exports, increase foreign exchange earnings, and enhance Vietnam's position in the global container manufacturing industry and the global transportation sector.
In the upcoming period, Hoa Phat will optimize production management and expand the market to quickly achieve designed production capacity, capitalizing on opportunities from the logistics market. The Group plans to invest in the second phase at an appropriate time to reach a total capacity of 500,000 TEU per year.
