Hai An boosts transport capacity with delivery of newly built containers from Hoa Phat Group

On July 19, 2024, Hai An Transport and Stevedoring Joint Stock Company received a boost to its transport capacity as it welcomed a batch of 350 newly built 20-foot containers from Hoa Phat Group. The containers were meticulously manufactured at Hoa Phat's Container Factory, located in the Expanded Phu My II Industrial Park, Tan Phuoc Ward, Phu My Town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Province.

The handover ceremony witnessed the presence of the Board of Directors from both Hoa Phat Container Manufacturing Joint Stock Company and Hai An Transport and Stevedoring Joint Stock Company.

Ms. Chu Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Director of Hoa Phat Container Manufacturing Joint Stock Company, acknowledged Hai An as the leading container transport unit in Vietnam, holding over 30% of the domestic market share. With a fleet of 15 ships, boasting a combined capacity exceeding 23,000 TEUs, Hai An operates both domestic and intra-Asia routes. Additionally, Hai An provides comprehensive logistics services encompassing port operations, warehouses, shipping agencies, and related services. Given the extensive range of operations, a substantial number of containers are essential to sustain their services.

“Hoa Phat has built its latest shipment in a design of the 20DC Heavy containers, increasing the total load capacity to 32,500 kg compared to the traditional design of 30,480 kg. This design has garnered favor from partners due to its ability to optimize cargo volume, minimize costs, and extend the lifespan of the products, according to Ms. Huong.

Previously, the company had to rely on ordering containers from overseas, resulting in time-consuming import processes, additional costs, and risks associated with exchange rates and interest rates. Moreover, Hoa Phat's container manufacturing factory is modern, well-invested, and has received verification from international organizations and partners, ensuring complete confidence in the quality of their products.”

“The batch of 350 newly built containers on this occasion marks the 15th anniversary of Hai An. The container boxes are printed with a new logo with many bright and vibrant colors, showing the diversity and richness in business fields. In particular, there are 15 containers symbolizing the 15th anniversary of the company, not wearing the traditional blue color but wearing two impressive blue and orange colors, symbolizing peace, stability and trust.”

Currently, Hoa Phat's container shells are designed and manufactured with the most advanced equipment and technology, meeting international standards for seagoing containers and technical requirements in transporting goods across continents.

The two sides hope to continue to cooperate in supplying more container shell products in the future

The event of handing over the container batch between the two units not only affirms Hoa Phat's reputation in the container manufacturing industry, but also opens up development opportunities with Hai An - a listed company with the largest and youngest fleet in Vietnam, in the Top 100 largest container fleets in the world. At the same time, this cooperation contributes to promoting domestic production, reducing dependence on imported goods, and gradually improving competitiveness in the international market.

Hoa Phat Container Factory has a total capacity of 500,000 TEU a year, of which phase 1 reaches a capacity of 200,000 TEU a year, focusing on general cargo container products 20DC and 40HC. With its capacity and brand, Hoa Phat container manufactured in Vietnam will become a new destination for domestic and international partners with demand for container boxes.
